About

A backwards journey through every single song that became number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 Top. Starting from 2015 and going all the way back to 1959, when the Top’s current format was firstly introduced. The journey pauses whenever a new song tops the chart, but resumes right after. You can get on board and become part of the journey easily, by voting each song in the simple thumbs up/thumbs down system. Or comment if you want your opinion to be heard. All your contributions will amount to something big at the end of the journey, but that will remain a surprise until then.

EDIT: At the end of each year, a YouTube playlist will be shared with all that year’s number ones, as well as links to the posts regarding those songs.

EDIT #2: I originally planned the journey to be strictly backwards, but as of August 2016 decided to explore the songs from the beginnings of the chart as well. This way things will be more varied and will also please the people with an interest in older music. Since I’m posting twice a week, one song will be from 1959 going forwards and one from 2008 going backwards (and a 3rd post if a new song tops the chart that week).

  2. What a fun idea, but where do you live? In the USA? In Belgium, a lot of those songs were never number 1,..I hope that there is also some Metal songs or Nirvana, Red hot chili peppers, pixies, etc?

  3. How fun will this journey be? Hate to admit (well, not really) I have been around for all of the years mentioned and likely am familiar with most of them (being a music lover myself). Thanks for the follow and I will be riding along with you too!
