Zayn – Pillowtalk (2016 – Part 3)

Zayn Malik was known as the “Bradford Bad Boy” within the worldwide phenomenon that is One Direction. Or rather was, since the boy band has been on a hiatus ever since the release of their fifth studio album, Made in the A.M., in 2015. A.M. was their first record without Malik, whose departure a few months before was explained by himself via Twitter as wanting to show the public his real self and make real music. As expected, the announcement shocked the group’s numerous fans, with many feeling revolted at Malik for dismissing One Direction’s music.

As part of the group, Malik came very close to having a number one hit under his belt. What Makes You Beautiful, Live While You’re Young, Best Song Ever and Drag Me Down all charted within the top 5, though none managed to hit the top position. Impressive is the fact that he managed to correct that right off the bat with his first solo single. Sex is the main lyrical theme of Pillowtalk and Malik described the song as “so pure, so dirty and raw”. He then elaborated: “Everybody has sex, and it’s something people wanna hear about. It’s part of everybody’s life, a very BIG part of life!”

Malik’s first solo album is set to be released on the 25th of March, 2016, under the name of Mind of Mine. Though not many details about it were shared, the pop singer reveled writing no less than “46 or 47” tracks for it. Only 15-18 will make the final cut, he says, and his new arm tattoo featuring the name of the album is proof that he’s confident enough that Mind of Mine will make a splash.

Pillowtalk spent 1 week at number one in Billboard Top 100 before being dethroned by Justin Bieber’s Love Yourself.
