The Weeknd – Can’t Feel My Face (2015 – Part 5)

Max Martin is the song-writer and producer behind 23 number-one hits for artist such as Britney Spears (Baby One More Time, Hold It Against Me), Katy Perry (I Kissed a Girl, Teenage Dream, Roar, Dark Horse, California Gurls),  P!nk (So What, Raise Your Glass) or Taylor Swift (Shake It Off, Blank Space, Bad Blood). His latest success is a collaboration with Canadian R&B singer The Weeknd, which topped the charts before the release of its home album, The Weeknd’s second.

Comparisons to Michael Jackson were noted by Complex who described the track as “The Weekend channeling a bit of Michael Jackson” and Consequence of Sound, who felt it had a “Michael Jackson-esque ’80s twist”. Just like many of The King of Pop’s songs, Can’t Feel My Face was praised for its catchiness and hit potential. Spin warned us that “this thing’s destined to reach Uptown Funk levels of airplay and ubiquity”, while Time ensured us that it “will enter your brain and stay lodged there for the rest of the summer—possibly even the year.”

Can’t Feel My Face spent 3 non-consecutive weeks at number one in Billboard Top 100, first being dethroned by OMI’s Cheerleader, second by Justin Bieber’s What Do You Mean? and third by The Weeknd’s very own The Hills.
